How long does the physical examination usually take?
The physical examination usually takes about 2~3 hours. Specialized physical checkup and silver program takes about 3~5 hours and gold program takes about 7 hours. (The above estimated time is common, but it can vary depending on the progress of tests and additional exams.)

Can I get a physical examination on Saturday or national holiday?
Our center isn't open on Saturday and national holiday. Tests are available on weekdays (Monday~Friday), and they are offered after the registration between 8~9am.

Can a family member or representative make an appointment?
Yes, you can make an appointment for physical checkup through a family member or representative. The personal information of an examinee (name, foreign registration number, address, phone number) will be needed. We will send you preparation materials by mail, and guide you by phone and/or text message before the examination day.

Should I make an appointment for a physical checkup?
Health Promotion Center of Haeundae Paik Hopsital is providing the service based on an appointment system. An appointment can be made either by phone or in person at the hospital.

When do you expect me to make an appointment?
Please make an appointment of basic physical examination one month in advance. The schedule could be changed depending on the additional tests, therefore please make an appointment after you have consulted with the physician.

What should I consider for additional tests?
① Colonoscopy
It has been given in the morning. If you want to cancel the test, please be sure to call us at least 5 days prior to your reservation day.
② PET-CT
You should be fasting for at least 6 hours, and the test will take approximately 1 1/2 hours. Please avoid heavy exercise before and on the day of examination. If you change the appointment or cancel the test, the cost for loss of medicine will be charged to you. Therefore, please make an appointment after having enough consultation.
③ MRI
A person with a pacemaker or any metal implants cannot undertake this test. A person who has metal in the body, braces, or has had received a procedure for stent is limited to somebody area. Also a person who is claustrophobic cannot receive the test. Therefore please make an appointment only after having a consultation.

What should I do with the medicine that I am taking?
If you are taking antithrombotics and/or anticoagulants, please have a consultation with your attending doctor to check if you should stop taking your current medicine. Please take essential medicines such as hypertension pills with a small amount of water at 6am on the day of examination. However, diabetes pills should not be taken on the day. A person who is taking aspirin and/or antithrombotics should have a consultation with the doctor who prescribed the medicine 7 days prior to the examination because he/she is at risk of bleeding in case of biopsy test or polyp removal during the test.

When should I start fasting?
Please fast from 9am a day before the examination. You should avoid to drink water, eat foods including gum and smoke. A person who is expected to have a colonoscopy should start fasting after having a soup a day before the examination.

Should I avoid even water while fasting?
It would be better not to drink water from midnight onwards, allowing for a more accurate test result. However, you can brush your teeth and rinse your mouth.

Should I visit the hospital to receive the medicine for bowel preparation?
The appointment of colonoscopy can be made by phone, and the medicine for bowel preparation will be sent to you with other preparations by registered mail.

Should I get a stool test even if I have a colonoscopy?
Parasite and/or occult blood test can be done with a stool. The lesions on colon could be found by a colonoscopy, however parasite infection could be checked through a stool test.

If I forget to bring my stool sample, what should I do?
The sample can be brought to our center during working hours (Weekdays 8am~5pm). We will notify you of the results separately.

If fasting is required after 9pm, can I take the medicine for bowel preparation in the morning?
Please take the medicine for bowel preparation before 6am, and empty your bowels. Taking half of the medicine in the afternoon a day before the examination and the rest of it in the morning on the day would be more effective in emptying your bowels completely. Please get more detailed information when making an appointment.

Can a women who is on a period get a physical examination?

Can a women who is on a period get a physical examination?
It is recommended that you avoid having a physical examination during your menstrual cycle. If you are scheduled to take a physical examination during a period, the tests excluding urine and/or gynecological examination could be given to you. The tests unable to be performed during menstruation would be performed separately. We will contact with the test results.

When I am receiving conscious sedation endoscope (endoscopy, colonoscopy), should my guardian or friend be with me?
Conscious sedation endoscope is to perform a endoscopy under sedation by giving the sedatives. In this case, a person could go home before being fully awake even though taking enough rest in the recovery room. Therefore, please avoid driving a car by yourself and ensure you are accompanied by a guardian or friend for safety.

Can a pregnant woman get a physical examination?
A pregnant woman can get a physical examination excluding radiographic tests, endoscopy and colonoscopy under conscious sedation which can affect fetus and/or mother. Exposure to radiation is dangerous to the fetus. All women of childbearing age are recommended to check their menstrual cycle and pregnancy test in order to avoid the risk of radiation exposure for the fetus. The Health Promotion Center does not provide the pregnancy test. ※ Radiographic test : Mammography, Chest x-ray, Abodomen x-ray, UGI series, Bone densitometry, CT(Computed tomography), etc.

What matters a breast-feeding woman should be attended?
All tests excluding mammography could be taken. In principle, the tests which use a radiation such as basic x-ray, mammography, CT, etc are known as harmless for breast-feeding. However a radiographic test is not recommended during breast-feeding if possible because there are no specific standards yet. The UGI series and endoscopy under conscious sedation can be taken but it would be better to stop breast-feeding for a day after the test due to medication effects.

In unmarried woman, how can I get a uterus test?
We would like to recommend you the physical examination type A for unmarried woman. An unmarried woman who is a virgin cannot have a pap smear. The abnormal findings such as uterine myoma in pelvis and ovarian cyst, the abnormality of structure can be detected by gynecology(vaginal) ultrasonography and it will be tested through the anus. However for unmarried woman, the uterus and ovary can be checked by lower abdomen(pelvic) ultrasonography which examines the inside of pelvis on stomach with filling bladder instead of gynecology(vaginal) ultrasonography.

I am an unmarried woman. Can I get a breast test?
We would like to recommend you the physical examination for unmarried woman. There are breast ultrasonography and mammography for checking a breast. Breast ultrasonography is recommended for unmarried woman (under 35 years old). The reason is that breast density of unmarried woman is increased while taking the mammography, and it can cause the uncertain lesion, pain and radiation exposure. Therefore, we recommend a breast ultrasonography for unmarried woman.

Can I park my car for free?
A person who receives a physical checkup is eligible for free parking for 8 hours on the day. Those patients who have had an endoscopy or colonoscopy under conscious sedation are prohibited from driving a car after the procedure for safety, and must use public transportation. (Driving a car after endoscopy can be regarded as drunk driving.)

Do I have to pay a deposit when I make an appointment?
A deposit is not required. You can pay the bill on the day of examination.

Can I pay the bill of physical checkup in advance?
If you prefer to pay a bill in advance, making a deposit without a bankbook would be available. However, some additional costs could be charged in case of additional tests on the day. Also a full refund would be possible if you cancel the appointment after payment, but it will take quite some time to give you a refund. Therefore, it is preferred that you pay a bill on the day of examination rather than in advance.

How can I get the test results?
You can choose either visiting the center to have a consultation or getting the results by mail. The consultation at the center would be available about 7 days after having the physical checkup, and you will have a consultation with a physician who judged your results. (Schedule of consultation will be set up after finishing the checkup.) Mailing will take about 8~9 days after having the physical checkup. For those who want to have a consultation at the center or by phone contact us, we will help you to make an appointment for weekdays.

Is it possible to get a part of physical checkup?
Health screening program is composed of tests to detect and prevent a disease in early stage, therefore it is not possible to choose what you personally prefer.
